Better Way To Life - Helping those in need in becoming self sufficient

         Our Mission and Story

Better Way To Life was brought to life by it's founder McKayla DuJour. McKayla always wanted to bring awareness to this situation through many avenues. This way of living has been such a devastation to many men and women who have lost it all. Our brothers and sisters out there have been frowned upon for being homeless and not living in our standards. People tend to look down at those that live in less moderate conditions. McKayla's messege was always to start making a difference and be part of the solution and make a change. Ms. DuJour began her journey at becoming an advocate and listening ear to those who are not seen and heard over 10 years ago. McKayla has contributed in any way that her heart moved her to. She would often pass out lunches out of the trunk of her car to those in the streets or bottled water in the summer when the heat was unbearable. She has prepared all the meals herself in her very own kitchen and has distributed thousands and thousands of meals in both Chicago and in Minneapolis.  In the winters she has given and made charitable donations that went into buying winter neccessities such as coats, hats, scarves and gloves to give to the ones left in the cold. All of which is funded by McKayla herself. In the holiday months, McKayla has rented facilities to hold dinners and different sorts of venues for the homeless in the Minneapolis area. She is always recruiting volunteers who are dedicated in helping others to share their smiles and to help in serving the men and women who come in to these special dinners.

Better Way To Life represents hope. Many people depend on our organization for meals and hair cuts and bible study and counsel. People come to us with concerns because we are the voice that speaks for them. McKayla has been a positive voice at the State Capitol during rallies for the homeless and housing fund issues. She has also been contacted by the media for her input and views on the homeless situations here in Minnesota. Our mission is to reach the many that need assistance and an understanding party that will be of great support. Our support is ongoing. We know to succeed we can't just expect these men and women to make it on their own. They need someone to hold their hand part of the way and then let them go on to venture once they have a solid foundation and ready to face the world. We believe in God and bible study is a key element. Without God, none of this could never be. It is of great importance that we stress how good it is to have a relationship with Christ. There are many lost souls and many to be found.

Our organization is bringing about change. It is out of the warmth of our hearts that we can persevere. We have dedicated volunteers that open their hearts to the brothers and sisters that we come in contact with. We are here working and being of service to one another because it is truely our desire to be that support.
